What We Do

Fish of Laurel is an all-volunteer nonprofit that operates Elizabeth House, the only meal kitchen in northern Prince George's County. We serve food-insecure neighbors in the greater Laurel area, including Prince George’s, Anne Arundel, Howard, and Montgomery counties. In addition to daily evening meal services, FISH volunteers operate a food pantry twice a week, distributing fresh produce, non-perishable food items, and limited household staples to Laurel residents in need.

RESPONDING TO A GROWING NEED

In 2024, food insecurity affected 50% of Prince George’s County households (up 5% from 2023). The Capital Area Food Bank’s 2024 Hunger Report showed a continued trend that, “the food insecure population is disproportionately comprised of people of color, families with children, and those with lower incomes and levels of education.” The study also noted, "trends year over year; it stands out that the food insecure population is growing increasingly educated and more middle-class."

The Fish of Laurel Board of Trustees is actively working to raise funds to maintain the critical services we’ve been providing to the community for nearly 50 years. Every dollar helps us purchase food and pantry supplies and makes a big difference in the lives of our Laurel neighbors. Please consider donating food, funds, or your time to our organization today.

Food Pantry

Thursdays, 9:00 AM - 12:30 PM
Saturdays, 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM

Twice a week, Elizabeth House operates a food pantry, providing fresh produce and non-perishable goods to pantry clients and those in need. We primarily serve 200-250 rotating pantry clients. Non-pantry customers are welcome to stop by Elizabeth House during pantry hours and pick up groceries as available.

Pantry Clients

Our pantry team works with clients to coordinate grocery and household items as best we can and coordinate pickup. All pantry clients must be able to confirm proof of Laurel residency via a current piece of mail, lease, etc.
